This blog was named "ashes to ashes" because growing from a child to an adult I would go to church every lent to get ashes, shaped in a cross, engrained into my forehead. What they said as they spread the ashes only resonated with me more and more as I got older, even while the rest of my faith sometimes faltered in other aspects. They said "Remember: from ashes we come, and to ashes we will return." Ashes to Ashes. I try to remember this in all the work I do for me and my community.
